travels

well, january is almost done. i've been busy with a strange mix of things: a photo up at the nottingham open show, planning trips, making posters, building computers, learning about lasers, playing with my new old camera, trying not to hibernate and seaching for sunshine at every possible opportunity. it's certainly been non-stop.

tomorrow i'm off to california for 2 weeks, 1 week of work and 1 of holiday. it'll be nice to get some free time for photogaphy and stuff (yeah, ok, it hasn't been long since my extended christmas sojourn, but that's not a holiday for doing anything except eating). i'm very excited, but as is always the way with travelling i feel very tired today, it all seems like a lot of effort until you're actually on the plane and can relax for a bit. still, i've got a copy of City of Quartz to read, so it should all be great.

january

From the Guardian:

Sad is simply a reminder that in winter we should hibernate and that winter blues have less to do with depression than that too many of us are trying to operate at high speed all year round."It's nature's way of telling us to slow down," says Prof Foster.

damn right, i'm all for hibernation. january through to april would be lovely for a bit of a nap...
